Since 2012 I’ve been traveling through various islands of the Philippines as a full-time Expat and spent 1999 living in Vietnam.

Share with me my ongoing adventures of life in the Philippines. Hopefully you find my observations helpful in your own adventures.

  3. The only concern I had had is most airbnb and hotels will not let you get full refund if you come up positive withen 48 hours before flight but what i decided too do was just book my hotel room when u get my covid results back im banking that ill find a room somewhere for a week while I look for a permanent place Near QC for those who don’t know Pal is being real good at giving credits good for a year if you can’t come because of positive covid test

  4. It sounds exciting to visit the Philippines after a lengthy tourist shutdown, however I just read an article where the CDC lists the Philippines as a level 4 (highest level) of countries to avoid due to “very high levels of covid-19”. Many tourists (me included) might go for it and take the risk…however after viewing that “package” of nightmares video u endured Reekay , when u tested positive for Covid while trying to return to USA ….NO THANK YOU!!

  5. I have been looking at Cebu accommodations and have found (through friends that live there )with all the damaged and destroyed housing, that the Air BNB’s are getting booked by locals in need of a place to live.
Overall, the typhoon destroyed or severely damaged 1.5 million homes. Many around and in Cebu. In one neighborhood I was looking at, you can’t even find the streets.
Still a long road ahead for the area.

  6. One Health Pass should be done 3 days before your departure. If it asks which hotel, why not just enter some hotel that was a quarantine hotel?

  7. I just received a email from the Philippine Consulate today in regards to my email about return airfare, and the Balikbayan Privilege. In the email it says Philippine passport holders, and Former Filipinos and their dependents. (immediate family members) are exempt from the return ticket requirement., also they said the IATF resolution 159 does not apply if you are traveling with your filipino spouse, you may avail the Balikbayan Privilege. Email was dated, Tue. Feb. 1 @ 11;10 am.

  8. Jan. 31 2022 The US posted a travel advisory not to travel to the Philippines due to Covid and crime. This was first posted on Youtube by the vlogger Sunshine Shoulders. I Googled it and it is true. So far it seems that this is just an advisory not a restriction….

  9. I’m planning a trip to the Philippines in June or July I hope when the time comes I can ask you for questions on what I need to get in there thank you very much I love your blogs

  10. I am not gonna turn into a QR code. If they want me to visit, then treat me like a guest, not cattle.

  11. I don’t really deal with Airbnb. I preferred to deal with Expedia or Travelocity or some type of corporate network because I know that if anything goes wrong I’ll get my money back.

I also have used them before to book in the Philippines when communication with the owners of a condo/property becomes difficult.

  12. Is the rapid PCR test same as RT-PCR.. ??
I’m told that it could take up to 3 days or more to get results of RT-PCR. Please advise ASAP if you can as my wife’s mom passed and we need to leave on Feb 16. First available flight

  13. Negative PCR test within 48 hours. Won’t happen. It take 3 to 5 days for results. Even USA allows an Antegein so why hasn’t Philippines m?

  14. Reekay hopefully this Health Pass will be fixed especially knowing foreign passengers will be visiting soon. I will be going at the end of March, I will be staying at my fiance house for my initial 5 day quarantine. I will fill out the forms on line and print it out before traveling.

  15. The lack of freedom of movement you pointed out in your last video and the possibility of not having freedom to invite guests back to my condo are more than enough reason not to return till 2023.

  16. I’ve contacted 50+ Airbnbs in Manila in the past week. About 80% replied but some will only rent for 6 months or more.

  17. SNAFU…perfect word for the Philippine government. Not unique in that respect, however.
