  2. It’s interesting to note that as we get older, our dreams get smaller. Kids grow up wanting to be astronauts, doctors, etc. As we age and experience failure, our dreams get smaller and become things like trying to get promoted, get a better car or bigger house, etc. And you’re right that life is much easier the more money you have. People who believe money can’t buy happiness don’t know where to shop

  3. I will be retiring from government service in less than 2 months. With my savings and monthly pensions I have no plans to work for additional income. I believe I can live comfortably with a simple and yet healthy lifestyle that I am used to. All I need is to take good care of my health, pursue my hobbies and travel local and abroad sometimes. For all we know, we can predict what lies ahead, so we must enjoy life to the fullest.

  4. Great advice Reekay. I’ve started putting some extra coals in the fire this year, and I hope my investments can make my life comfortable when I get to the PH later.

  5. In winter I set a goal to diet for a flat stomach by summer.
My skinny clothes fitting me again, is saving me money.

  6. Great video Reekay. Having extra money definitely takes the stress out of everyday living. How’s that new Osmo cam working out for you?

  7. I picked up another saying that goes along with what you said. “If this were easy, what would it look like? Which means, if the task you’re trying to do could be done in an easy way, how would you do it? That is better than trying to do it perfectly.

  8. Reekay, 100% correct. Life is much easier when you have money.
Example: to get a 10 year retired Thai visa you need to deposit in a Bank $95,000 USD and pay for healthcare insurance.

  9. 14 years ago I left for the Philippines after my divorce broke and no money I said forget. Left for the islands with 1,200 in my pocket and said I will figure a way to get it to work..well, I got it to work and then some having the life I have always dreamed and wanted to live off-grid on Gibitngil Island and I am at complete peace.. Don’t wait for the life you want just go and grab it. In case nobody is familiar the island has no electricity or water so stay away. Hahahaha

  10. I have the money and I the time, I just don’t have the Philippines. So i’m miserably bored and feel like i’m being punished by God. It’s horrible!

  11. i never thought of traveling overseas until i seen you first videos i was 52, so i went to the philippines and thailand love it but its your fault, lol

  12. I find the nicer the place I stay, the more difficult it is to access vacation romance. For example, the high star hotels and dive resorts don’t seem to have quality companionship nearby. Has anyone found a solution to this? Peace.

  13. Hello Henry and great words of encouragement. As you know, I have taught for many years (24) in the school system and had low pay throughout my life. I paid my bills over time, paid my house off, got divorced having 3 sons after 21 years of marriage, and even paid my College and University tuition as well. I have lived a poor life along the way while working hard then suddenly, became disabled 3 years ago. I had to completely adjust to my even lower monthly income (SS Disability).
But throughout my I have NEVER been stressed out! NEVER! I take my happiness everywhere and have had enough patience to live this way before becoming disabled and after being disabled. I do not see myself being wealthy in any way (unless I win the Lotto) but I LIVE my life WITHIN MY MEANS!
This means not having things others may get to buy. But I enjoy traveling when I save here and there. I live a simple life and my greatest pleasure is sharing my life and being there for my 3 sons, NO MATTER how old they get or where they go.

  14. I’ve always laughed at individuals that would say money can’t buy you happiness because I’ve always known for an absolute fact that he definitely can without a doubt

  15. Reekay, a book was written in the 1940s about the lifestyle you enjoy it was called, ” the magic of believing ” I think there’s a version of it on YouTube and also on Audible. Using the method that’s described in the book I have had Barack Obama serve me ice cream in Honolulu , I Met George Bush Senior standing in his underwear watching his security team play poker in Anchorage Alaska, I said into board meetings with oil tycoons at the Hilton in Anchorage Alaska, lived with royalty in Anchorage Alaska for one year, I drove a 30 story building down a pair of railroad tracks at NASA, and I’ve babysit billionaires. Sometimes life canget really strange !

  16. Been watching you for three years, I am 35 this year… Keep it up, very inspiring!

  17. My Goals: 13-19 bodybuilding. 20-22 partying. 23-35 traveling. 35-38 university. 38-43 getting rich (still working on it).

  18. The important thing is to have a goal. The goal might be losing weight or getting rich, but having a goal makes life interesting.

  19. Hi Reekay, if you were not busy with making YT videos what would you be doing to occupy yourself? I am planning to retire in less than 2 years but with experiencing lockdowns I question the idea of being fulfilled only with hobbies. After a while we get bored without a purpose even with money.

  20. I’ll never be an astronaut but I want to get back to the Philippines. That seems simple enough, right?

  21. One of the most life chaining books I ever read was Jordan Peterson “12 Rules for Life” he talks about taking the path of expediency vs doing it right the first time. When or if it catches up with a small problem is now a really big issue and people wonder why they keep having problems and their life is so difficult.

  22. “For all sad words of tongue and pen, The saddest of these, ‘It might have been’.” – John Greenleaf Whittier. Thank you for encouraging one to be open to new things and the $ discussion.

  23. I think it is important to def keep an open mind as you get older. I moved here to the Philippines 1 1/2 years ago. I didn’t want to have to work all day anymore. Best decision ever. I have more time to think here, relax and enjoy life. You are right.. Money can buy happiness. I’m happy. I have extra money.. so i could get an SRRV visa , and now be able to come back here when i want.. instead of having to rely on a tourist visa. If i didn’t have that extra money.. I’d be stuck and unhappy in the USA. So, i would have to concur. Having more money can buy happiness! lol.. good video Reekay! Cheers from the Philippines! 😉

  24. My life long ambition is to sail a Polynesian outrigger in the Pacific. At 66 the plan is on track. I should start my boat build this year. Will build a 20 foot outrigger with a gaff sail. I may only sail local waters around Dumaguete but that is practical and satisfies my dreams.

  25. Spot on vid bro. As we grow wiser we begin to look at what’s truly important to us and most of us find simplistic lifestyle is sooo much better. Thats why we choose other countries to live. Theres a line in a story by Milton that says the dreams of youth are often the regrets of maturity but i dont see it that way. Being a simple man living a simple is the best way.
