  8. One of my favorite islands. Beautiful beaches and just so laid back and easy to explore on a scooter. Been yrs since i have been there but got an amazing deal at Blue Marlin beach resort and Ogtong Cave Resort. They both gave me 50% if i stayed 5 days or more. Just walked up and asked. Not as much stuff was online back then. Recommend both places at least to visit. Great places to eat by the beach and swim too. Very well groomed and nice places. They would bring us our meals to tables overlooking the beach or at our cottage. Enjoy the beautiful island. Great place to unwind !

  9. Oooooh you are making me so envious of you two Reekay . You’re finding the good spots, and some really good places with great food. You might like to visit the Octong Cave Resort if it’s open, they also had a good restaurant. Thanks for sharing, Vi looks lovely in that dress.

  13. Water shoes…yes I must buy in advance… because I’m sure they don’t stock size 15 shoes there for 6’8″ guys

    1. at our room we got up to 30mpbs. since it was satellite we did lose connection once or twice a day, then it would return after 5-minutes.

      around town, signal via globe was pretty weak on our phone plan wifi. neither google-maps or maps.me could pinpoint our location accurately.

  18. I like that you place them on the map. Thanks! Why not try other places to live . Why not try Masbate/Ticao, Panay, Leyte or Samar etc?

    1. we began our year with the intent of traveling around the ph. but then covid happened so that limited our options.

  22. Great video. Do you think you can get around in bantayan without renting a motorbike? At least between hotel, restaurant and beach and maybe if there’s a city area.

    1. @Reekay’s LifeBeyondTheSea definitely more flexible to have one, unfortunately I can’t drive a motorbike for medical reasons (I can ride it if I’m not the driver but where is the Filipina seated then lol) so I need to make sure I visit an island or area with reasonable public transportation. Thanks for the reply Reekay!

    2. yes, you could. trikes are about 20-40p to get around. and once you are near the food court you are just 2-blocks from the beach. i like having a motorbike so that i can find places by just riding around randomly. 🙂

  23. Up the NE coast is Anika resort… best white sand beach in that area and if you ask around you can get a day rental boat with 2 boys for less than P1000. They will take you to Virgin Island and better cliff diving spot. I can’t wait to get back there…

  27. Hello Reekay, I am a little bit envious watching your daily clips from Bantayan Island. I stayed there in Santa Fe for some weeks in 2019. Now I feel like in a ‘Corona-Prison’ (in Germany, we now got an exit lock at nighttime!). I was sitting and eating also at this place you were eating at. There is a good restaurant nearby offering fresh grilled fish and seafood, very good if you like it. Inexpensive and a lot of locals there…, – hope you will find it (with this some vague description). Peak time is ~8pm, don’t come to late.. greetings from germany 🙂

  28. Those are some of the biggest coconuts I’ve ever seen. And I grew up in the tropics drinking coconut water. Did they have a lot of water? And was it sweet?

    1. yes, very big. sweet enough, but not super-sweet. very nice on a hot day. one of my favorites. 🙂

  30. Being ex-military I am definitely observer of human nature and watching people it would be an amazing to have a video or a short clip telling a little bit about these kids if you have any info on them of course

  31. That was pretty amazing with the two kids getting fed like that I’m so curious how they just showed up at your table did they just pop by and start conversation with her or just to starving kids coming up to you or did y’all come up to them

    1. the resto staff later told us the two girls stop by sometimes asking for food. we saw them later in the week about a half-mile away so i’m guessing they live half-way between. according to Vi, she said they told her their parents were ‘gone’ and that they lived with their grandmother. (maybe that’s true, who knows)

      in the video, you can see them first approach the table behind ours at the 9:23 mark. then they came up to our table and asked for change, so we gave them 50p. but then vi began chatting with them so then we figured with so much food we set up a plate for them.

      i worked with homeless people for 4-years, these kids were not homeless. they were clean and groomed, so they likely lived nearby and were not being supervised, allowed to just wander into town.

  32. Bantayan is a great holiday place! Very relaxing! I was there about 3 years ago. Not many westen tourist. The majority were local tourists.

    2. very low shark-human encounters in the ph. i checked years ago, most encounters are australia, africa, northern california, florida.. but not the ph.

  37. Went to bantayan during Easter 2019, and the food was cheap and tasty. The best I have experienced in the visayas.

    1. @Reekay’s LifeBeyondTheSea the prices might change in Bantayan, because from April 2021 Air Juan airline will start flying from Mactan Cebu. This will make it easier to get the and will increase the number of tourists in the island. Back in April 2019 it was already crowded it was the Easter holiday, and foreigners and Filipinos were all around Santa Fe. At the Chef Panyang I payed 300 php for some delicious scallops, and barely couldn’t finish it, it was to much for me. Have fun, enjoy those beautiful beaches.

    2. it’s still a pretty good deal. i imagine prices go up when it’s more crowded, but still cheaper than cebu city.

  40. This is gonna be first on my list bro. Been wanting to do this for long time now. Have you heard anymore about ppl getting sick from taking the vaccine?

    1. @Reekay’s LifeBeyondTheSea ive seen vids and heard on news sites of about 10 ppl that have had negative reactions. I think ill just wait. I mean if i get sick surely ill take it but until then ill just wait. Whats your thoughts.
