If you want a healthy, lasting, commitment based relationship then you should be looking to find ‘trust’, and nothing else (especially not sex)!
Yes, there should be ‘some’ attraction! Which also comes from that first look, smile, line, humour (window to personality).. but as love builds, so does attraction.
Trust is the only place where love can thrive and not end in pain & betrayal. Commitments (/boundries) are the shared definitions of trust, and trust is the highest intimacy.

Quite Right what makes someone attractive will vary according to who is making the judgement.
It often goes far beyond looks and encompasses things like honesty, integrity, compassion, kindness, fidelity and so on. You have previously advised that you should spend time WITH a person PHYSICALLY 6, 9 or 12 months ideally to get to know them. I think that’s sound advice.
If anyone is inclined to rush that process because “the clock is ticking and we aren’t getting any younger.”
I’d say ‘don’t look at it as a waste of time. Look at it instead as an investment in a contented and happy future!
