I taught myself how to cook (with advice from my mother) after leaving home at 17. It is a skill that has benefited me immensely throughout my life. (I’m 67 now). I simply cannot imagine being at the total mercy of someone else’s cooking. I just wish I could still eat my biscuits & gravy.
