  2. I’m a conservative Baptist Christian. Being with a Filipina who has accepted God & Jesus, is important to me.

  3. If the expat religion encourages fat wallets, then religion is easy to change with a bit of water. I mean, Magellan arrived and in one day converted thousands of filipinos. What’s so hard today to do like Magellan did?

  4. Reekay, you are a well read man. You actually know the differences, and I wouldn’t be surprised if you gave lots of detail about each religious branch.

  5. It is amazing how you were able to understand these things almost on point. I am a Filipino. I was raised in the Catholic faith. After college, I became a born-again Christian and almost became a Pastor. But after some time and dedicated research, became an atheist. (Yes, there are atheist and agnostic Filipinos in the Philippines). My partner for more than 20 years is a Catholic through and through. She is not deeply religious. In fact there are many Catholic teachings she outright reason with. But her allegiance will forever be with the Catholic church. I believe many Filipinos in general have the same faith as my “wife”. You are right, in many instances they could be deists. They just don’t understand what it means and many of them weren’t exposed to such information unless it piqued their interests. Not all Filipinos (&Filipinas) are Catholic though, majority of them are, but there are hundreds of different sects as well. The Catholics might be more open or “accommodating” towards other people’s belief or lack thereof, but there are members of other sects who are really tied to their beliefs. But I guess they won’t be the ones actively looking for an expat partners.

  6. Sorry, for once I can’t agree… the US was founded on Enlightenment principles, and this was no accident.
Indeed, the separation of church and state was a key principle, designed to prevent the conflicts that ravaged Europe around the same time.
Many Christians claim otherwise, (of course), but that is the reality. And if they point out, “In God We Trust” is on our currency, they either don’t know, or don’t care, that this was not the case before the Civil War. Look at images of coins and bills earlier than the mid 1800s, and see for yourself. The Founding Fathers had nothing to do with that. And I’ll believe the Founding Fathers far more readily than religious folks who really wish or believe the country was founded based on their own religion.

  7. Both should be worshipping God Jesus Christ . If either isn’t then they are not evenly yoked . From a Christian standpoint . John 14:6-7 KJV Bible !!!

  8. But ultimately if you are Roman Catholic or a Christian it makes for a much more bonded closer relationship because you both travel the same white path of Godly faith.
