  2. Great video. Keep your health , keep your wealth. Loose your health , spend your wealth to fix your health

  3. Reekay, I hope you read this one. It’s for you.
Glad to see you doing this topic. Please keep your mind open and continue to learn more. It’s very easy to get to where you are and get stuck in a particular perspective. Consider how stubbornly opinionated most western doctors are – and how wrong they are about diet etcetera. Where is this going? I was where you are now a couple years ago and have had to push through some of the earlier information I had. I was lucky! First my journey, then where I am now.
Initially motivated by longevity (a longer retirement) in 2017 I stopped all sugar and processed food. Also, I quickly learned about the horrors of vegetable oils which are really made from seeds and are extremely unhealthy though touted as healthy. Then about a year into it I learned more about health and began intermittent fasting (19 / 5) and did a few 5 day fasts. All good when I found out I have cardio vascular disease (the #1 cause of the #1 killer – heart attack). I did a deep dive into the information and out went all grains and anything I found caused inflammation or spiked insulin. NOTE: if you are not familiar with the problems from insulin resistance – you need to know this. Check out professor Ben Bikman of BYU. Also learn about the poisons lectins and oxalates that are found in different veggies.
There’s a lot more to the story but this is far too long already.
Finally after resisting because I “knew” so much I’ve gone 100% carb free which is to say, I’ve gone carnivore. It’s an extreme idea that took several years to sink in. So along with Dr. Berg, Dr. Pelz, etal, check out Dr. Chaffee and Dr. Shawn Baker.

  4. Freakin’ right on and if you can get a life worth living, like a chick a third your age with a body covered in living silk and a beautiful young face, than frick me buddy, have a salad, GET DRUNK ON LIFE AND LIVE IT!!!!! to hell with alcohol and that stuff they take out of your arteries in a by-pass, buddy, THAT ISN’T SALAD! “Meat should be a treat”. Have some meat with your meal, not a meal of meat and animal products are to blame for E.D. not age, not really.

  5. Also Alcohol. (for the daily drinkers out there)
If you drink Alcohol on a daily basis, you’re already an “Alcoholic” even if you don’t believe you are.
Daily Alcohol drinkers age much quicker than non-drinkers or moderate (like Once a week) drinkers.
Daily Alcohol drinkers also will have a shorter lifespan than non-drinkers or moderate drinkers.
I have many friends who are Caucasian and who are a couple of years younger than me, but look like they’re older than me…. as to the extent that I could call them “Grandpa” (I dare not say that to them in the face though XD)
If you’re a Caucasian guy/girl, you will typically look older than most Asians (Filipinos, Chinese, Korean, Japanese) of the same age in the first place, and you make it worse by being a daily drinker.

  6. Very good video, I been watching the same videos for the last 5 years now. Iam 62 now and I don’t eat anything with sugar or processed foods. I do intermittent fasting 18/6 and I exercise every day. The last 5 years have changed my life for the better

  7. While not taking anything away from Dr. Berg in my opinion one of the best on youtube is Dr. Ken Berry he talks a lot about the carnivore diet and intermittent fasting eating good proteins like fried eggs staying away from vegetable oils while losing all the carbs, sugars and grains.

  8. It’s always funny and usually concerning every time you encounter someone who is learning about health and nutrition for the first time in their life. They’ve read an article (or 10) and they just can’t wait to spread the news, typically with a tone of great authority. That’s the funny part. The dangerous part is that they seem to believe everything they are reading and then spread this information — some of it good, some of it bad, and some of it horrible — to other people. When you are making health and nutrition decisions, never trust one source and never make too many decisions at once. I’ll leave it at that.

  9. 100%. I think people understand Health is Wealth. But the missing part is the knowledge and they got too much “misinformation” about the wrong S.A.D. part. I think it’s not just to manage it to be older. More like being healthy, fit, and active until you reach the finish line. Health is really a long-term project and the earlier you start the better. The later you start the less long-term you have left. Don’t wait to be unhealthy and sick to get the motivation to be healthy and well.

I am 68 myself and I was never much into carbs. But had some rice, potatoes, and pasta just to soak up the yummy gravy but also much salad. Also 3 meals per day and quite good to exercise. Though I had a small belly (but still well in normal BMI). My waistline was 45% of my length. No medical issues

However, almost 3 years ago I learned about Keto and the damaging effects of high GI carbs and switched over to that and 2 meals per day for 6 months and then one meal per day after that. The plate I have is BIG and at least 50-60% is leafy greens and the rest is fish, meat, chicken, eggs. The funny thing is I’m never really hungry or craving anything. I eat less but much better food. I now get more nutrients so I need fewer kilos of it.

Another interesting thing is that they say we need carbs for energy. But in FACT fat contains MORE energy per unit than carbs. But it does not spike blood sugar and insulin and is more long-lasting. A normal-weight person has (can store) around 100.000 kcal of body fat but can only store 1,000 ish of glucose for energy. Why do you think the body stores fat and not glucose? Because it can run longer on fat than on glucose and it takes less space to store fat than to store glucose. Just because the body starts metabolizing sugars before fat does not mean cards are the preferred food. The body also starts metabolizing alcohol before carbs, but everyone understands that does not make alcohol preferred “food”. Perhaps it is the other way around, the body starts metabolizing carbs before fat because carbs (sugars) are more toxic and the body has to deal with that as an emergency.

I also cut out the inflammatory so-called vegetable oils (actually seed oils) and replaced them with olive oil, and coconut oil.

I do more exercise (long walks). I am now 40% waistline vs length. Lost 16 kg and lower end normal BMI. I’m almost as fit as I was as a 30-year-old semiathle

Regarding the OMAD, there is even a Nobel Prize on the effects of fasting and the antiaging and autophagy (self-repair) effect it has. David Sinclair, a researcher in this field, is another good source. Around once a month I do extended fasting 48-72 hrs

Another good source on insulin is Benjamin Bikman that also researches in this field.

  10. Thanks Reekay, watching your videos has inspired me to watch Dr Berg and learn more about nutrition. I still have to give up some bad habits but I’m more conciacious of what I eat. I’m almost 62 and would like to extend my retirement years with good health also

  11. Eating vedge is king. We don´t need meat every day. In pinas there is so much healthy and cheap food like all kinds of soups and vedgys. Nami or Lomi etc. . Wish you a healthy one.

  12. I’m right there with you but I’m not going cold turkey of all sweets and fruits. My parents are both well into their 80s and still eating a full spectrum of food. Let’s face it, eating delicious foods is an enjoyable part of life and there are ways to mitigate the effects through diet and exercise.

  13. Why do people including yourself start paying attention to their health and what they should be eating now that they are old or getting into older years , the damage of eating unhealthy all those early years before has already caused long term health issues that are waiting to happen or indeed have already happened in folk and they have very few years left to try and correct it ,sure it will help and probably give folk a few extra years but why was folk asleep when they were younger regarding the most important thing in their lives , my opinion is people eat far too much food which always makes the body work overtime to deal with it all plus folk drink a lot of liquids that are not very good for the body .I wish you well Reekay but hey your surely smart enough to know what’s good for you and what isn’t.

  14. Whole Grains are good for most people. Many people have eaten Oatmeal for breakfast for decades and have lived into their 90’s!!! Some whole grains don’t spike insulin, have a lower glycemic index, even though they are carbs. Good info though, Reekay – veggies are certainly good for you!

  15. This topic seems to be a trend with western vlogers in the Philippines right now.. I think Old dog got it rolling but what do I know.. All great advice as usual.. Very solid info you gave there keep it up. Myself I changed my eating habits and exercise routine early this year and when you stick with it results come in. Cheers
