23. The other game changer was the advent of fee free tuition available at TESDA and some universities. Many now seen the opportunity to improve their life prospects through education, employment, becoming more independent financially, and being able to make their own life choices

Reekay at 1:43:25 you speak of the “change” coming – sadly I believe that this was the time the Philippines had changed course and started following the western style of life and sealed its fate! so ALL westerners reading this message, know that – OUR TIME IS RUNNING OUT! because soon there will be little difference between the hoes we left behind in our home countries and the “new” filipina!.. 32. I married my filipina penpal in 1987. She was 20; I was 36 and divorced. We wrote back and forth for about 2.5 years (yes, she was 17 when we started writing) before I asked her to marry me “site unseen” except for pictures and an occasional long distance collect phone call (before Internet days). We have been married almost 33 years and have 2 sons, one 32 and one 26; both doing well. We have had some very rough and rocky times in our marriage because of cultural differences and language issues but we worked thru them, also financial issues. However, now I am 69 (fully retired) and she is 53 (working as an RN) and we have a great life. We both are strong Christians and have been faithful to each other. God has greatly blessed me with my filipina wife.

40. I been married to a Filipina now for 4 years and when I ask her what she wants for dinner I know she will say anything you want. I think it’s because they like taking care of us and always want us to have what we want. But after 4 years I know what she likes, so most of the time I will get the foods she likes.
