2. Concerning number two, being solution-oriented. I’ve always stipulated that why hassle a problem if there is a solution to it.

3. I had been married for 40 years & for the most part it was a good marriage. She was always somewhat of a control freak but towards the end after we both retired, she really got bad. I certainly don’t blame her for everything that went wrong. I hear that a lot with guys here saying they hate all American woman. I don’t. One thing they don’t realize is they R giving their ex-control over them. A man leaves his father & takes a wife & the 2 become 1. That is the way I treat Ne as we are 1. What makes her happy makes me happy.

4. Great advice, Reekay. My only contributions are as follows:

   Filipinas are great delegators! The number of times I have heard “Up to you” from a Filipina when you really want to know their opinion (e.g. “What would you like for dinner?”…response “Up to you!”). Secondly, how many times do you let the same “accident” occur before you stop laughing about it? Are you still laughing about it after the fourth time an egg is leaking and stuck to the egg holder and cracks all over the ref? In the Philippines, more often than not, with their easy-going attitudes, it doesn’t matter whether an accident happens, and they can’t understand how and why a Westerner gets upset about it, regardless how many times it has happened before. Finally, yes, be supportive of each-other, absolutely. Cheers.

5. For me as I am older now little things don’t even matter. Life is so much easier. For me a big thing is to have a sense of respectful humor. That goes a long way. To keep it light, not heavy. Life is too short. For me always taking responsibility for my part to create a loving, encouraging and supportive relationship. Always apologizing quickly and easily when I have a part in something. That created huge trust

6. You cannot delegate in the Philippines. They need to be led and micro-managed *ALWAYS* . I know lots of people may piss & moan, but I’ve been successfully married to a Filipina for over 30 years (and that means I am very familiar with the culture) and I know almost instinctively that if I give a Filipino any task I will need to oversee the task at hand.
   Being married to a Filipina is *VERY DIFFERENT* to a Western woman – mostly in a positive way – but their culture does make them different, and therefore you must learn to manage their idiosyncracies. Be *VERY* aware of those differences and you can be very happy and content. Ignore them at your peril!

12. It helps to have a wife who really does love you from the beginning as a person and NOT love what she can get from you materially..This is what makes MOST filipinas so much more desirable to Western men because they are usually alot more GENUINE with their warm intentions
