Since 2012 I’ve been traveling through various islands of the Philippines as a full-time Expat and spent 1999 living in Vietnam.

Share with me my ongoing adventures of life in the Philippines. Hopefully you find my observations helpful in your own adventures.

  1. I have been wondering what to take when I head over to either Philippines. That is, what to carry….. one backpack only or a backpack plus suitcase?

I want to be able to maintain flexibility of travel. Be able to easily move from place to place.

So just carrying a backpack seems sensible. Except that by the time a laptop, toiletries and other items are shoved in, there’s limited space for clothing, etc

If a suitcase is carried in addition to the backpack, this solves the problem, except it restricts easy movement from place to place. If I knew where I was going to live, this would be fine. But in my case, I have no firm plan.

What are your thoughts, mate? Is a backpack with no suitcase the best idea, for someone in my position?

  2. There’s a vlogger called Sunshine Shoulders. I just watched his video where he just came back from an interview with the NBI. He had to meet with them and they reviewed some of his videos because they received a complaint that he was supposedly involved in trafficking and some other BS and the NBI guy doing the interview and investigation is ex-military from the US and they were real nice to him and said they are going to close the case cuz they don’t see anything in his videos that are even close to that. So some hater guy went out of his way to file complaint with the NBI in the Philippines and mess with this guy and make him nervous and worried just because he’s some kind of a sick hater. I think that person should have to go in and face the NBI and get charges for filing a false report

  3. The main reason Tim K is so successful is he started his channel from Harold bardiar, who had over 500k subscribers at that time, now almost million. So when Tim started he got almost 100k views and 50k subscribers, it’s who leverage off of, you pickup some of there subscribers, so vlogs who started there channel with some vloger with say 25k subscribers they usually end up with 5 or 6000 subscribers from that person’s volg. That’s why I think vloggers should advertise on successful vloggers channels, I feel it will dramatically increases your views and subscribers.

  4. There is a weird set of liars on YouTube and elsewhere on the web who love attacking expat Philippine vloggers with baseless information. They makes claims about these vloggers’ lives when it seems highly improbable that they have the information to do so. I don’t know what their motivation is.
