Since 2012 I’ve been traveling through various islands of the Philippines as a full-time Expat and spent 1999 living in Vietnam.

Share with me my ongoing adventures of life in the Philippines. Hopefully you find my observations helpful in your own adventures.

  1. sydney airport also has international and domestic airports are miles apart, you have to take a train bus or taxi

  2. Not long ago people were making fake vaccine cards, I would be too afraid of getting in trouble but was curious if you think the Philippines would have a way to verify the card?

  3. I always get flight protection, very easy if you book via expedia. I had a trip planned for Panama this month, my travel buddy test positive. At the last minute had to move everything, easy breezy with flight protection.

  4. This is great news of course. Let’s just hope the next “stealth variant” doesn’t show up and create another collective panic. The test is concerning as the result can take 2-3 days. There is a chance one can miss the flight.

  5. I entered on a 9a about 2 weeks ago after not having seen my wife and daughter for just shy of 2 years. We’re in Dumaguete and I’m pretty glad we’ve secured our rental home already (renting while we build) as I can foresee the prices going through the roof. The place we’re now paying PHP15K a month for – 3 bedroom standalone house, semi-furnished, fully AC,at the back of Talay towards Valencia – will in my estimation go up to 25k a month. I’m just happy that those that have been separated from loved ones won’t have to jump through the hoops I did. So before anyone whines about vaccinations and PCR tests, have a look at the entry requirements prior to February 10… It was a rigmarole at both ends.

  6. This will be a big fail to only let a certain group of people in. Good luck on all that bs, and those high priced tickets and bending over like sheep to follow insane rules and mandates. The more people say “NO”, and push back the sooner all this insane BS stops, immediately.

  7. Hey Reekey, are you coming back to live in Metro Cebu soon? I’m currently living in the area and hope to see you. . I’m always strolling the malls e.g. Ayala, Sm…..enjoying the day. Cebu is not the same without you! Hehehe

  8. Just read this. Pure idiocy. I remember when the US State department recommended all Americans return to the U.S. once the virus began. Of course, the way America handled the virus became the laughingstock of the world. Completely disgraceful, with over 850,000 Americans now dead.

The U.S. State Department , earlier in January, encouraged Americans to “reconsider travel” to the Philippines due to COVID-19. It also warned travelers to “exercise increased caution due to crime, terrorism, civil unrest, and kidnapping.”

  9. *WHO Certificate of Vaccination?? What is that? Why can’t we just our own countries vaccine card? Where do we even get those WHO certificates?*

  10. The reason I ask is because I watched Filipino PEa n JR or Jr consultants and they said the CDC card so I’m confused please help me bro

  11. my name is Kenny I’m here in Savannah Georgia and I went to the VA and got my phizer shots and got a card with the lot number and everything on it CDC card is that good enough or do I need to go get this stupid WHO certificate

  12. Reekey, you have done a great service to future expat and have provided us with valuable info concerning the Philippine culture. Do you think being forced to be jabbed (real vaccines are tested for years ) in order to visit the Philippines can be considered as OPEN?

  13. Hi Reekey I will be retiring in 2 years at 60 years old I live in Los Angeles you just mentioned that you could potentially move out of California to another state that does not have state taxes how long do you have to live in another state before you can start traveling thank you
    Ron

  14. @Reekay – Please google “Fact check: CDC is withdrawing its PCR COVID-19 test, but not because it confuses viruses”. I think you have the reasons confused. As the news article states, cdc released a clarification because of the confusion.

  15. If you’re buying a ticket to Cebu with a stopover in Manila, do you still have to get yourself to the domestic airport in Manila or will the airline take care of it for you?

  16. Travel without Vaccination… When will the Philippines drop the requirement…we have 22 months of evidence for regular flips flops…so keep right on flopping around. And we have 22 months of evidence that the Philippines is not leading edge of Covid response break throughs… The current administration continues to push VAX hard… As I said on Jan 2021…over a year ago…May 9 2022 elections are the best first chance for TRUE LIBERALIZATION of the MAD DEMIC..here we are…2022…and here comes MAy 9 2022. Vote wisely.

  17. I think technically it’s not a visa on arrival. It’s a visa waiver. So no visa required for 30 days.

  18. anyone know about this 48 hour rt test like if get on plane to start my journey at 46 hours am I good even if I arrive in ph 60 plus hours after negative test

  19. I am a physician and your information on PCR tests is absolutely false ! It IS highly reliable and has most definitely NOT been unendorsed by the CDC. Unfortunately I will have to report you for spreading false information on COVID. I have enjoyed your channel for several years, but will no longer watch and will unsubscribe. Stick to what you know about and leave the rest to the professionals. Please do not refer to bogus social media posts that have been severely distorted to discredit scientists

  20. Reekay will you get married before you travel around the PH with her. I’m sure her parents expect that?

  21. Hey Reekay, .. Curtis in Las Vegas and already bought tickets and plan to get my retirement visa in THAILAND in 4 weeks.. but I’m HAPPY for all those who’ve been waiting to head to the Philippines. Also happy for Filipinos who will get a BIG BOOST to jobs and the economy. * Selfishly, also means NOT as many people headed to Thailand.. so the condo rental market is still full of bargains these next few months.
** Side note, not being able to travel with ease the last 2 years, meant I stayed in Las Vegas .. and the butterfly effect.. I won an extra $70,000 playing Poker.. that I would NOT have otherwise been here to win.
See ya’ again someday Henry.. the last time we met was Ho Chi Minh, maybe next time Bangkok or Cebu? Best wishes Reekay. (P.S. Bangkok round trip flight was only $790)

  22. If I’m fully vaccinated, and retiring to the Philippines with my Filipino wife, who is a US citizen, and we’ve been married for 24 years, do I need a round trip ticket? I’m hoping, no.

  23. PCR test are up to 3 days out before you get the results… Don’t know how to get it done in 48 hours???

  24. Would travel insurance with a cancellation for any reason rider be good enough instead of a refundable ticket?

  25. In no way, will I spend over 1 grand for a one way ticket…plus fork over more for an onward ticket that I’ll never use

  26. Thank you for everything that you do I made it to the Philippines in 2015 and you help me in that way so much you continue to help me in so many more ways I am so appreciative thank you

  27. reekay Im in xrp for all of 2021 and it tanked so now I can’t retire in PH 🙁
