  2. That’s fair enough for your reasons. I would atleast spend a day or 2 in Doha itself, tick of another country

  3. lol they transferd your bags in Qatar you didnt fly on the same plane lol i flew that once because i didnt have much of a choice was suppote to have 4 hr layover with all there delays i almost missed the connecting flight never a gain even if it were 1/3 the cost

  4. Absolutely agree with you about Manila airport. It is a pain unless you actually want to terminate there.

  5. Manilla isn’t as bad as it was few years ago. I was pleasantly surprised how easy it was to go to domestic flight from there compared to before having to take bus etc. I hate Manilla as I fell victim to the taxi scam in 2015 which left bad taste in my mouth. Much easier now.

  6. Why Did I Choose A Long Flight With Qatar?
why did you do that? hahahahahah
I always fly SFO California, Taipei. Cebu .
There’s no direct fly California, Cebu

  7. I recently flew with Qatar from London Heathrow to Clark via Doha
I arrived on Monday and didn’t receive my luggage until Thursday night
Qatar Airlines gave me no updates whatsoever on when my luggage would arrive

  8. I probably wouldn’t take that flight. I went through Manila but itwas 4:00 in the morning. I went from San Diego to San Francisco then to Manila. I had a 10 hour layover in Frisco. 2 hours in Manila but PAL from Frisco all the way to Cebu . That was me. It’s your flight you can do it your way. Just like Burger King.

  9. I can respect your decision Henry , some guys like hanging out in airports and just taking there time , if I was in New York I would consider Qatar

  10. I agree with you i try to avoid Manila. Scams and often long layover often overnight to get out of manila.

  11. I like. To take EVA air I fly from Seattle to Taiwan with a 8+ layover then direct to cebu however I was not able to do it my last trip congratulation on your marriage to Vi hope it’s as good as mine to Juvelyn we have been Married since 2015

  12. 2019. Manila to dumagette , minus my luggage, took 3 flights until my luggage arrived in duma, what a day that was..

  13. Crazy man. Your criteria and the resulting 30+ hours fly time door to door is self-imposed agony as far as I am concerned. Cheers

  14. Didn’t Old Dog fly nonstop on Philippine Airlines from LAX to CEB on his last trip to USA? Perhaps that route has been discontinued and it would be strange if so since things are getting back to normal and more are traveling. Appreciate your reasoning in doing what you did.

  15. Hey Reekay , I knew something was up with you and Vi getting hitched when you were talking about getting married online . Congrats . I went from Charlotte to Detroit to Incheon to Cebu . Because of you . That was years ago . That was a great flight .
Wish you both the best .

  16. When I was still working, I wanted to get everyday of my two weeks, so long flights and layover really sucked. But now, no problem.

  17. I was one who asked why Doh?. Thanks for explaining. Personally, I want to see the nicest airport in the world, in singapore. I should mention that it is rated as one of the safest airlines, and the price has been good lately. I could do Philippines air and go nonstop, but very expensive for what you get. Don’t mind Manila, shoot over to makati and bgc for a few nights. Then on to other destinations.

  18. I couldn’t agree with you more. That transfer from international to domestic in Manila is confusing and disorganized.

  19. I agree 100% Henry I will NOT fly into or out of Manila for any reason! I love the Philippines but even my Asawa is ashamed of Manila Airport, security, police, taxi drivers, none can be trusted and the facilities are terrible. I will take a 10 hour layover in Korea via Asiana or Korean Air and pay more for it with pleasure.

  20. Whoever said the joy is in the journey never took a flight to the Philippines. First flight from my city to NYC. 2 hour layover there. Then 16 hour flight to HK. My butt was killing me by the time we landed. Then 9 hour layover in HK. Then the 1.5 hours to NAIA. That’s where the madness of long lines my my lost luggage began. I’m already at the bottom so my trip has to get better lol.

  21. I will fly into Cebu next because I didn’t like Manila airport also the taxis will rip you off….

  22. Great points Reekay , I think time plays a factor with regards to how long you are staying in the Philippines. If your in the Philippines for a limited amount of time for example 3 weeks. You will want to get there asap. If you have 3 months to stay , a longer run really isn’t bad at all. Great insight as always Reekay. Thank you..

  23. How was the upgrade to business class from Qatar to Cebu? Can you do a vlog or post on the seat and food/ wine pairing?

  24. i fly from australia to singapore and singapore to davao directly just to avoid manila, i could fly sydney to manila directly only 7hrs then davao but I hate manila with a passion

  25. I have done Manila so many times.. I have done the nonstop..my luggage was left at JFK on korean for 2 weeks.. now that I’m more experienced I only fly to Cebu.. even if its little more money, it saves your sanity.

  26. That was my 1st thought why would take a 30 hours flight. I take EVA from LAX to TPE 2 hour layover then CEB its like 16 hours. One is not better than other it just a difference in how we like to travel. For me fastest route, I have done tow 6 or 8 hour layovers when its was a city I’v never been to and I visit the city during my layover time.

  27. So what you are saying is that if you didn’t have to land in Manila, you would consider other shorter flight options? You must have had a really bad experience the last time in Manila airport… hehe
The flight path through the Middle East sure is really long. There sounds to me like there is more to this story about avoiding Manila. A little inconvenience should be ok when traveling, for most people. That is ok. It is none of our business what you choose.

  28. Definitely. I don’t like Manila or landing there. Dubai to Cebu on Emirates. My wife’s niece recently lost her luggage, which was never found, flying via Singapore.

  29. Henry: That makes complete sense to me, especially the one airline. I am traveling to the Philippines for the first time in April. Q1: What online travel site did you use to book the flight? Q2: Did you purchase a seat upgrade from economy during the longest (15 hr.) flight? Q3: How did you get lounge access? Thanks very much. That will help me immensely. P.S. Congratulations on your marriage. I wish you all the best going forward.

  30. Try Clark (CRK). Very nice airport and not congested. Both Emirates and Qatar fly to Clark. Then fly onward to your destination.

  31. I like getting there as quickly as possible because it’s more time I get with my Filipina. I don’t yet have the luxury of moving to PH, so I have to maximize my time.

  32. How strict were they on Carry On luggage…..flying to PH next week :). Wondering if they weight carryons?

  33. I enjoy your long flights haha. Cheers. And yes, landing in Manila is horrible and the taxi’s run a money scam just to get across terminals or even across the street etc. Better to land in any other city there.

  34. #1 I don’t like to land in Manila. !100%! Unless there is a need to visit Luzon, there is no reason to deplane in Manila. The question of ‘non stop’ depends on where you start in the United States. …flying to LAX would entirely defeat the ‘non stop’ already. I would 100% prefer to layover on the other side as needed. Doha was okay when I visited but I need to go back when (probably okay now) there are less restrictions than my flight via Qatar. Incheon is till my favorite airport and Istanbul is, so far not a favorite.

  35. I took that flight in May 17 hrs not planning doing it again. Good to know about manilla as I’m going there soon.

  36. Doha is also a really good airport, I fly with Qatar exclusively for that reason. Peace of mind when travelling is worth the extra time and cost.

  37. I guess most peoples preference is price first then schedule,,,,,,,, and then whatever comes next.

  38. I flew here on Korean AL all the way, Columbus, OH, to NYNY to Soul Korea then to Cebu. It was 14.5 hours to Soul. I actually enjoyed it because I talked to a real nice Filipino guy my age all the way, He was telling me all about the PH. He had been to the US several times and been to more tourist attraction than I have, We parted in Soul because he was going on to Manella where he lived and I went on to Cebu, where Ne picked me up. She was waiting in Bohol,
