About Me.. In 2011 I made the decision to move to the Philippines within a year. Since 2012 I’ve been traveling through various islands of the Philippines as a full-time Expat. (Mactan, Bohol, Panglao, Moalboal, Dumaguete, Bacong, Boracay, Cebu) I recently spent the year living in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.

Share with me here my ongoing adventures of life in the Philippines. Dating, vlogging, cooking, traveling and sharing the information with you needed to make your own plans for living as a full-time expat in Southeast Asia.

  2. Well, our political system here in the USA has specifically been openly trying to break up families for some years. Of course family relationships don’t always work out, and there is real abuse sometimes, but family are the only people you get who, by default, might actually give a damn about you.

  3. Well said Henry. The bottom line is to surround yourself with good people, as you say, and block out the one’s that evidently want to cause you some sort of chaos in your life. We’ve all had them before, at some point in our lives. Just stay positive, and don’t ever let negativity seep into your life.

  4. Interesting there are so many paralells in what you say. My family looted and lied and rotted to death and death will be their reward. My job is to fight off the same kind of “need” and greed that motivated them selfishly. Got to be thanking for the half full, not what was spilled. And as a part of this de emphasize the actual number and realize I have full support for a long time in a humble life style. And plenty of extra for hobbies too. Forget Warren Buffet.

  5. One of the best videos that you have put out. It has trust, common sense, and facts about the real world and how it works.

  6. Indeed. Sad isn’t it, Reekay. Sometimes I feel I am carrying on with life because of my cat!!! Might sound funny but true.

  7. I have been watching your videos for years and I agree with you on most subjects including life in the Philippines. Lets hope this virus thing goes into the past so that more people can discover life outside the USA.

  8. Decades ago I gave up on that blood is thicker than water saying. In some bloodlines there is absolute hatred for one or more members of the family without just cause. Blood is the essence of life, but let that blood get infected it may bring about the end of life. Some family members don’t want to see a certain member of the family progress. You have the option of creating your own family and leave the hateful one in the past. Great topic.

  10. I appreciate your thoughts on this. I’ve found it difficult to find truly good expat friends as an expat in the Philippines. In two years I have 3. Going through something like the typhoon here I’m very grateful for them. Glad you are in California not having to deal with this. Hoping your fiance is safe and well.

  11. hows it going henry i guess we all relate one way or other reguarding relationships with family or women ,in family sometimes we choose our friends sometimes you just relate to different people better you like moving around yours dont travel much ,but you are getting the adventure in life some people dont like change, everyone that chooses creates their life that way so any opinion is theirs you can relate to others like fingers on your hand every ones different ,kinda like meeting a filipina to marry ,you could meet women in your hometown from south ,central and mexico ,and not even travel ,its not a filapina woman its a woman you fell in love with reguardless of being filopina the love is the relationship not the culture shes going in your direction in life so that makes it easier to be together in relationships in the states with relatives just respect them and understand everyone makes their life youre not living their lives so dont worry about it its your life and lifestyle youve choosen so live with that choice sauce for the goose i liked the one about diserment in getting to know women thanks for that its a good checklist in any country good luck and be happy in your life because like your mom said it what they say, just be yourself ,and respect other peoples opinion its just their opinion everybodys got one , like to talk about what they like not everybody wants to travel live your way has the self employment attitude and sight in your way of life,

  12. Very interesting thoughts, Reekay. I have family who mostly do not care about me, even though I have done things for them over the years. But I also have one half brother with a different father who would go to the moon for me. He married a woman from Baguio.

  13. May be controversial but I avoid Expats like the plague. I visit foreign countries to be around foreigners. If I need some specific advice I’ll engage one in conversation and compensate them with food and drink. But become pals? Nope.

  14. I’ve always been a firm believer in that misery loves company. True friendship works both ways, isn’t conditional & could care less about the petty superficial stuff many people are caught up in usually related to looks or money. Maybe call it luck but in 4 1/2 yrs here I can honestly say that at least 90% of expats I’ve met are very good people for which I’m very grateful.

  15. my younger brother was my best friend for 60 years we done everything together sadly he died from cancer,i miss him every day

  16. I agree with you Henry as I personally have felt negative connotations from some family members over the years regarding my desire to find, accept, and fall in love with an Asian woman living in another country. My Filipina Fiance and I are back together again in our LDR (we really never broke up but felt kind of drifting while we cancelled our K1 VISA application) while we still exchange conversations and video chats. We will stay together again (last time in Singapore, 2019) for several weeks in Thailand in March of 2022. Hopefully after this trip, a wedding will be planned, both online and in the Philippines so her family can witness the wedding.

  17. Great topic bro! As a person that never really cultivated ” friendships” in my life because of the constant moving from state to state. Ive learned to be very comfortable being by myself. Im sure youve heard the story of the little bird. I’ve learned to keep my heart in my chest and never on my sleeve.

  18. Do no harm is something I never considered. I have very good friends and I know who to avoid in my family.

  19. My people here in the states are not my family anymore send mom pass I came back to the states because I had to not because of my family

  20. Reekay is your girlfriend ok I got to talk to my wife today finally, it was so good to be able to talk and know she was ok it was so good and I hope you have got to talk to V

  21. Very good topic Reekay…. My father passed away about five years ago he left me everything because most of them didn’t come around to see him my siblings although my sister tried to jump in about the last six months but Dad could see through that. Anyway they tried to sue me so they can get their portion claiming I made up the will and all these other allegations which all turned out to be a pack of lies I had the truth on my side. A couple of them didn’t even go to his funeral but they were still fighting for the money makes me sick to my stomach so yeah blood is not thicker than water. Can’t wait to get to the Philippines I was there three years ago I have a fiancé and Dumaguete and I just want to move on with my life. Oh by the way I did win And they got nothing as it should be. I found out in life you don’t know someone until you go through a divorce or there’s a death in the family that’s when things define themselves and you say who’s there for you and who isn’t.

  22. Actually…there are few expats that I’d even have a coffee with, much less count on for anything
