Registering a foreign divorce is not as simple as you suggest. Yes, it is possible but a very complex legal process needing much more than the judge just looking at it..
When the marriage was in Philipinnes. HOW ARE FOREIGN DIVORCE DECREES JUDICIALLY RECOGNIZED IN THE PHILIPPINES?
A petition for a judicial recognition of a foreign divorce in the Philippines shall be filed before the Regional Trial Court (RTC) in the city or province where the corresponding civil registry to be corrected is located. If the marriage is celebrated abroad, the petition shall be filed before the RTC which has jurisdiction over the place of residence of the petitioner.
The following are the documents required to be attached to the petition. For documents issued or made abroad, they must either be (a) an official publication of such document or (b) a copy attested by the officer having the legal custody of the document, or by his deputy. Additionally, there must be an accompanying certificate that such officer has the custody, which may be issued by the embassy or consular office of the Philippines and authenticated by the seal of its office.5 Any foreign document attached to the petition needs to be apostilled by the competent authority or authenticated by the Philippine Embassy in the foreign country.
So you go to the courthouse were you married in the past. You need an English translation of the law of divorce in your own country. That is the hard part of it or impossible, if your country is not native English. Law books (deep language) are very hard to translate and have to be authenticated also.
Seems like the best option is to avoid dating these people if it makes it possible for you to be arrested. There are over a hundred million people in the PI.
No divorce that is breaking your word with God. Forget the law. Their government isn’t god.
Nothing quite like a cenomar.
Can anyone answer this:
A filipino male abandoned his spouse and the Philippines 10 years ago, then he legally remarried in the U.S. after he filed an annulment document in order to do so in the U.S. What can the ex spouse in the Philippines do to be legally single, legally separated or annulled again? BTW very good video.
Not allow to get divorce is just foolish law
Thank you for making the legal distinctions clear.
Huge difference between, “not available” and “not allowed”.
If a Filipina marries a Filipino in Hong Kong and then marries a foreigner in the Philippines without getting a divorce is she breaking the law The foreigner spent over two million pesos on her house along with all household bills during the 8 years they were married? Can he claim anything from her? She didn’t work for 7.5 years and now has a job
Divorce: is destruction. Allowing it will destroy children’s families, men, and civilizations.
There is no divorce in the Philippines as
Legal separation is the only way to go to remove the risk of being scammed in the Philippines if you want to date locally a woman who was once married. The problem comes if you want to bring them back to the west, as you can’t marry a separated, legally or otherwise woman.
I wondered about this, thank you for the clarification.
Good to know. I wasn’t aware that a couple getting a legal separation could specify that neither could bring charges against the other for adultery.
You didn’t cover the Annulments in Philippines?
Henry thank you for the law update about the divorce law in the senate in the Philippines. I was wondering if they were going to pass it or not. BTW, I went to immigration office on like 16 August, I was not asked any questions like you said you were asked. Maybe because the person was attending you was a Filipina, they tend to be looking for a Foreigner boyfriend and tend to do there fishing?
We really just want to know that if we pay for her legal separation can we live and have sexual relations with that woman without fear of being arrested and possibly going to jail
Well what if you met and married in the US, she became a US citizen and later a dual citizen. Can’t you file in the county where you were married and get a divorce back in the USSR?

Most of the women over 25 have been married and have kids. Divorce IS NOT LEGAL in the Philippines. Be prepared for major hassles and expenses. Until she is free of marriage a man can be put in jail for adultery!
