Enjoyed the podcast. Having to deal with a narcissist is draining. Great explanation about the motives of trolls. Never understood why someones only drive is to tear other people down.
Narcissists are made not born. This happens in early childhood. And I’m guessing a higher percentage of narcissists become ex pats than one would think. I believe that’s because this population burns through their relationships and by the time they’re older, they are often estranged from family and anyone who you’d think they would be close to. With no healthy relationships left, they take their retirement funds where they can exert power over people poorer than them. This isn’t most expats of course. But I think it’s why there are as many narcissistic expats as there are.

Rickaay hello your info on narcissist was ok but I recommend Professor Sam Vaknin. He was the first pioneer of narcissism back in the early 90s in fact most of the terms used to describe NPD was created by him. Sounds like more than a few people who roam these youtube channels looking for trouble.
The age old question of whether someone is born with severe mental issues or the addition of circumstances over many years produce an unpleasant person. The latter is more common. The key word is compensation. Unfulfilled expectations get blamed on those that in the eyes of the “victim” lead a better life. Hence the horrible behavior. I don’t think that this is anything new. However, Reekay: For my preparations for life in the Philippines it came as a big surprise that you and other vloggers have pointed out on several occasions that one must be mindful of quite a few expats in the Philippines. I took it to heart. Nevertheless, I wonder why there’s this (exxagerated) saying out there that the Philippines attract the worst of all expats. This in my opinion deserves a video on its own because (although painting with a broad brush here) it might be that (overall) the Philippines might attract a certain profile of expats.
