Marriage is a legal business partnership, the worst possible business form.
I will NOT be married again so divorce won’t be necessary.
I’ll just enjoy my life and when the companion isn’t pleasant, I’ll simply waive good bye.
I think it’s important to have purpose in retirement or simply living in a new country.
Keep yourself busy with new hobbies, activities, etc.
Don’t be afraid to be alone but have selective companionship.
Marriage can be bad for your health and worst for your wallet.
Only stupid men take filipinas back to their home country. Those with large age gaps are going to wind up like the second example in the video. Those middle aged with smaller age gaps are also going to most likely lose their wife to younger guys if there is a smaller age gaps as the filipina realizes her market value in the U.S.. Those that marry a girl of their own age are still likely to have their filipina become Americanized and wind up paying child support. Even those in the latter category will wake up in their forties with an aging filipina that looks like her mother back in the Philippines. Smart expats keep the orchid in the jungle where she belongs and maintains control. He can choose to be a good man and treat her well but if she goes South, retain his money and start over.
Horribly sad stories. Thanks for the advice, Reekay
The first story reminds me of the movie Leaving Las Vegas -and how it ended with Nicolas Cage in that hotel room.
I agree, the second guy should have returned to the Philippines – he would still have had more than enough to have a good life, probably with a good pension, etc.
I have never understood the attraction to that drunken feeling. I might have a shot – just one – for the flavor but I hate feeling fuzzy and impaired. I taught my step son: one drink makes you a connoisseur, two means you are having a party, and three makes you a loser with a problem. I don’t think he has listened so I don’t have a lot of hope for his future. As an RN I take care of people who suffer the cumulative effects of using alcohol in what they considered a responsible way. Sorry to say this but more than one or two drinks per week and you are doing damage that you will likely regret later. I am 60. There is a reason why I am not on any meds yet.
Much sadness and trgedy in these two personal stories.
Thank you for sharing Reekay and your given advice, something we can all learn from!
Just went through an issue with my Pinay of 3 months, the latest one, number 4. She was upset I did not get a new washing sponge for the dishes when I went to the store a couple of days ago, hmmm. I gave her the opportunity as I always do to write down things that she needs or wants, Guess what sponge was not on the list. She got huffy and went to the Laptop room when I mentioned to her I gave her the opportuninty to write it on the shopping list. Shit happens, and then we live through it. lol
Love listening to your stories ,so amazing thankyou.
Alcoholics don’t manage their disease, they either drink or not. Easy for an alcoholic to drink themselves to death in a foreign country where they are alone.
Sad the dude made that choice, tomorrow could of been a better day.
Another story proving that women are evil!
Thank you so much for your share,I am currently living rayong,I was 4 years sober Christmas Day,because of your video I will drive to Pattaya tomorrow for my AA meeting and when my wife of 37 years comes home from work I will give her a kiss and tell her how lucky i am,thank you again
Look, I feel for the man who hung himself. But…. he needs to take some responsibility. Because he did not test her. For example, He should have gotten married in a state that extreamly limits the amount his wife could receive when they got a divorce.
Yes, the division of assets differs from state to state. Also, he should have transferred his assets to someone he absolutely trusts. Before marriage.
Sad stories. I’ve heard the bathroom is one of the most dangerous places in the house for the elderly and add alcohol to the mix and you have a recipe for disaster.
And that gentlemen, is why you put your assets in a trust and never commingle married assets with trust assets.
Hope you’ll share your 30s hard breakup story someday.
I too went through a bad breakup in my early 30s which put me in a downward spiral for many years. The relationship was only 3yrs (living together) and I still wonder why I took that one so hard.
I’ve been saying for some time, that nowadays most filipinas are not that different from the western women most men try to get away from, and most guys just don’t get it
I am curious when you talking about the second guy who is the girl that you showed lots of pictures off was that his wife that left him ?
It’s always too soon to give up.
An alcoholic is an alcoholic.
Plain and simple!!
35yrs sober. 🙂
I’m curious. Do guy #2 have a prenup? I couldn’t believe that even if you marry, the assets that you own on the marriage date should be yours.
Per the 2nd story, that is whybif any Filipina wants to be with me, she has to accept that there will be no marriage, no ceremony, no papers, no access to my bank acct. If they want to get demanding on any of those topics, they can pack their shit up and get out of my house. Been divorced twice and I ain’t ever doing that again.
Ill never get married
One of your best.. My wife does shi that makes it clear, she may not be one of the chosen ones. But shes like they say Good as the best and better than the rest. So we march on. But I’m not going to join the bs that she’s the best thing…I’m sure she is..but so were my other wives at the time. Is this bette? Probably, but had to try something different if I’m going to get better results. This has all the earmarks of substantial improvement. Already the hottest. And wouldn’t rule out the superior spirit at this point either. Especially when the testing she does is just to verify my love on her terms. Yep its love.. what else, not sure. Maybe that’s it. Now Its the best I’ve ever done. A downright masterpiece of a wife I’m training. With her very intelligent approval. And maybe because I didn’t have the knowledge or courage maybe. But this time it’s live only boundaries or I’m out. She’s not always happy with that. But like I tell her, what choice do I have? Definitely staying and taking ur shi ain’t one of them. Love, yes absolutely but must be reciprocate.
Sounds like both guys had issues that had nothing to do with the Philippines, and could have ended the same way for the in the US
Great video…keep making videos because I have learned so much as I plan to come to the Philippines. Moral of the story….Do not drink if you’re an alcoholic. Do not bring a Filipina to your country. Be grounded and happy and never let another person be your source of happiness.
For me, things almost never go as planned.
Life is Great and Hard, Solider through it.
Thanks for the advice, i recently lost my fantastic filipino wife of 40 yrs to cancer. All our married life was devoted to ensuring financial safety for our two girls when we would not be here. Now she has gone i am arranging our finances for their future. I need to conclude this because i told the girls later i may meet someone and i do not want this new woman in my life to claim all my assets so therefore at least 50% will be in their names. Neither girl is mine by birth but for 40yrs we have been one. I will b living with one and her family in the philippines for 6 months then the other for 6 months in the uk. This arrangement suits all concerned.
Glad you exposed this… I have seen many expats in dire straits and other sorts of trouble that could have been avoided. I remember my saying that a Smart man learns and profits from his own mistakes…But a Wise man…Learned from other mistakes made by those before him…Most just commit self-inflicted maladies and even suicide. Peace
Good day friends
Great stuff thank you
For someone to take half the assets they had to be married for at least 10 yrs here in the usa not sure the legality of years needed to split assets and usually the gal gets the house there but nothing to jump off a cliff over.
A sad story. If you live in the USA or Canada and want to find a Filipina woman, go to the Philippines and NEVER, bring her back to North America. She was able to take half his money because he brought her back to a country that makes it easy for a woman to do this. Stay in the Philippines for life, assuming the government is open to ex-pats living there regarding number limits.
That is what happens when you have addictions
Did your friend ever consider someone with bad intentions helped him get extra drunk then helped him slip, then rob him? It’s a possibility. Seems out of character for him to drink so much??
Appreciate all of your content.
Great cautionary tales. Thanks for sharing the stories. Hope it may save someone.
Sad to hear about them. Something I wonder if I might have a problem with. You come to a new country thinking things will be different, but if you don’t change, your result may be the same, as it is you not where you are that is the issue.
The second guy may have thought, as is often said in videos, that the filipina would be different than an amercian woman. (but many comments in the videos say don’t bring the girl/woman to the US) But after having the same (married before?) result that was not supposed to happen came to the conclusion that his dream was not realizable and just gave up. Lost hope and lost the desire to try again or do something different and did not expand his view. Sad but understandable for some people. Particularly for older men who no longer see they have a purpose or use to anyone.
I wonder if some filipinas realize how important they may be to their man and not just how important he may be to her.
Women are women just their situation and customs in different countries just put different expectations and restraints on them. (sorry COB, curmudgeonly old bastard, observations.)
The first guy, was his head injury serious enough that he would have been unconscious long enought to die anyway drunk or not? Living by yourself, young or old, can be dangerous. Something you need to keep in mind when doing things if you are alone. I knew a 25 year old girl who died taking a shower. (the american style tub with a shower head.) She slipped knocked herself out on the edge of the tub and landed in the tub. She had waist long hair that plugged the drain so the water level got high enough to cover her face.
Never bring you Philipino girlfriend to your home country..they change..they wise up and look for a younger guy .
good words and great advices as always. Congrats. you are probablely generating a lot of good karma with your channel
The Duma boys has a lot to learn.
If you’re that wealthy and think about it getting married don’t have all of your assets where she can get access to it period. You should be able to trust people but not these days.
I have heard similar stories over and over. Be careful what u wish for!
A prenuptial agreement might have saved the second guy. Sad.
I am divorced and it was a nightmare.
once a alcoholic always one.
You have a winner attitude. Lots of wisdom. You give good information. I agree with ninety -eight percent of your videos. I have lived a prudent life with a Filipina. Only the best for you going forward.
Great sagacious advice. You should do a video on Prenuptial Agreement in PH and/or US and whether it is binding and enforceable. What are the foreseesble problems and ramifications. Maraming Salamat!
Sad bro. RIP.
That reminds me there was one story u told the expat never let his philippines wife to learn more and grow.
A colleague who married, and subsequently was divorced, by a Filipina later told us that the hardest thing about the breakup was the embarrassment of knowing that everyone was shaking their head asking how could he be so stupid.
This, by far , was most informative and telling. I am considering, to live in the Far East, for a period of six to eight months out of the year, upon retirement. The Philippines, is one of the destination that I plan to visit extensively, until I figure things out. So, having heard the tragedies that you have mentioned, I am reconsidering the possibilities of marriage and children. At this junction of my life, I am not doing bad financially. But, I would by no means, consider myself to be “well heeled”. So, I could not afford the devastation of any parts of what I have acquired, thus far, to be taken away. Thanks for sharing and again, I am so sorry for the loss of life, of your friends.
So if you get married in the Philippines? Does a wife have the same ability to take half your assets back in the USA?
I just want to say what a dumb old stupid US government to give a large portion of a man’s money to some new citizen who married into the country then divorced her man
Nice piece Reekay!! …………It’s always a fine line between pleasure and pain no matter what or who we are……..it’s that simple. Thanks!!
Well said Reekay
I have a problem with drinking so I send money to a friend in the Philippines and can’t afford to buy booze
You think u know her but do u really?? If yur getting real serious w/woman in Phils u NEED FIRST to spend A GREAT DEAL of time with each other IN PERSON & for many don’t take her out of her element back to yur homeland. Maybe esp. more w/province girls, not realistic to think they’re going to blend into YOUR world of things. IMO easier for u to to adapt to pinoy culture here. Yes, alcohol is cunning & baffling, often old vices/habits don’t just disappear & if u had issues before often u still will have them even if yur on the other side of the world…. .
My business partner moved to the Philippines and at 43 died of malnutrition. Seems vodka does not have nutrients. Not a joke.
Nice❤
