Baby??? Red flag there
Hi Reekay, I think I have heard this story in your previous Vlogs a long time ago and it was an interesting story. I think most expats would have walked away from it and not perused it and that is what she was hoping for. I think you know what your biggest mistake was, in any kind of a deal, you receive the merchandise first before you pay for it. You should have made sure she handed over the pink slip before you paid her anything. But I understand she was a friend and you were trying to help her. I am glad it worked out okay peacefully.
Having been there a number of times my number one word I use is NO! Each time I was there I used it as a training. Experience the Phillipines away from Expats and in the province. It’s a completely different experience in the deep province. Two of my best attributes are listening and observing. I’m also aware of behaviors that don’t add up. I don’t dismiss them. I stay away from anything that doesn’t add up in the Phillipines because there could be a land mine. I have seen enough after many months there to know bad things can happen very fast. It’s a training. A number of times very attractive Filipinas approached me determined. I knew to just say no. It wasn’t easy but that’s an example of things that don’t add up and it was a great decision to say no. My happiness, well being and peace of mind are far to precious to risk. Thanks Reekay
Great story
I was in the Philippines fifty years ago and this is just another rip off scheme I’ve heard of. I don’t know why anybody would want to live there. It’s hot, you can get dysentery, be careful of drinks, etc. In this case I would have given the barangay captain money. Made friends with her dad and uncle, and established diplomatic relations.
You should give some pesos to the barangay capitan after he helped you somehow.
The only safe assumption is the other party has no intention of being honorable. EVER.
This chick had all the red flags up front already, your lucky you even got your $300 back.
As a foreigner….they will always lean against you even if it’s obvious you’re in the right.
Thank you for sharing.
There’s no such thing as a female friend for men.
I’m envisioning some wild Filipina chick, with an eye patch, and a parrot.
Another excellent story. Both entertaining and informative.
