Wow this story was so entertaining I can really relate to you and think we are a bit similar lol. I have been to the Philippines recently in Manila, Las Pinas and I loved it there, yes a little culture shock but I adjusted quickly I am sure because I have been living in Colombia for 3 Years on and off. I will be returning to Manila this March 25, I held onto my 1 bedroom apartment there because it was incredibly inexpensive and in such a great neighborhood with and awesome garden courtyard, I am taking your advice this time I am returning to the USA before gong back to Manila anyway so I will visit the embassy in NYC and will get a tourist visa so that I can remain in manila for an extended period by just getting extensions, and i will buy a throw away ticket for my return flight. I must say your website is fantastic and in no time anyone reading it I am sure finds themselves thinking they have known you forever. I would love to live out in a island paradise like you however my sweetie must finish one more year of college and complete the student teaching requirements before we will venture off and find a place, we did visit Verac and I really liked it there and so many sea side places to rent.
It’s cool for me to hear from so many people, the places they have chosen to explore. I plan on visiting Moalboal, Dumaguete and Malapascuas along with some other places I’ve gotten info on from other expats. So much to see! 🙂
