Form Changes

As of February 27, 2017, USCIS made form changes to I-130, Petition for Alien Relative. The I-130, Petition for Alien Relative, is specifically the form used for married couples applying for the IR-1/CR-1 Spousal Visa.

Firstly, the form changes include a revised Form I-130, Petition for Alien Relative, effective 2/27/17.

In addition, the form changes include a new Form I-130A, Supplemental Information for Spouse Beneficiary, effective 2/27/17.

Also, Form G-325A, Biographic Information, is no longer used as part of the I-130, Petition for Alien Relative, application package.

Lastly, Form G-1145, E-Notification of Application/Petition Acceptance, effective 9/105/14, is still used as part of the I-130, Petition for Alien Relative, application package.

Effective Date

The effective date of the form changes is February 27, 2017. The new Form I-130, effective 2/27/17, can be used as of February 27, 2017.

Starting 04/28/17, USCIS will only accept the 02/27/17 edition of Form I-130.

Until then, you can use either the new 2/27/17 or the old 12/23/16 edition of Form I-130.

Forms to Use When

As stated above, you can use either the new 2/27/17 or the old 12/23/16 edition of Form I-130 until April 28, 2017.

Starting 04/28/17, USCIS will only accept the 02/27/17 edition of Form I-130.

If Using the New 2/27/17 Edition of Form I-130

If using the new edition of Form I-130, Petition for Alien Relative, effective 2/27/17, submit the following:

If Using the Old 12/23/16 Edition of Form I-130

If you are using the 12/23/16 edition of Form I-130 to file for your spouse, you must also submit two G-325A, Biographical Information: one for you and one for your spouse.

Also, submit Form G-1145, E-Notification of Application/Petition Acceptance (PDF, 240 KB).

Remember, the old Form I-130, effective 12/23/16, will not be accepted after 04/28/17.
